We may be stupid but we're well traveled (HK trip)

Yes, it took me more than two weeks to upload, edit, and publish the pictures from our HK trip. Spending a week there ended up with so much pictures that it only took me until now to blog about it.

So yeah, last April (a week after our Xi'an trip), we headed to HK. Our accomo's free because my partner's boss offered his apartment for us to raise fort. Also, my own boss lent me her two octopus cards that proved really helpful when riding the MTR, ferries, and buses all over HK.

We stayed at Cheung Sha village in Lantau Island. Coming from the airport, it's gonna cost you at least HKD90 but if you come from the train and got off at Tung Chung MTR station, it's only gonna cost you around HKD70.
The place we stayed at is just a stone's throw away from the beach. The sand's not as white as Boracay's but the fact that we're staying near the beach and we're in Hong Kong is good enuff for us. Everytime we had to go out, we call it "luwas" because we hafta ride a bus to the Mui Wo and take the pier to Central station.
Going around HK won't be an easy feat specially for a geographically challenged person as myself. We rummaged the apartment we stayed at and managed to find a couple of extensive map of HK plus a schedule for the ferries.

We also went to the HK electronics and Components Trade fair. If you ask me, we sort of bluffed our way into getting inside the fair. It was strictly for trade buyers and they were requiring at least 3 calling cards to register for the event. Well, we just charmed our way into the fair --anyway you put it, we're trade buyers because we'll trade our money for their goods! Harhar! Anyway, I managed to buy several sample laptop stickers for 15 kuai (P90) which I gave away as "pasalubongs" and a portable charger for all my gadgets which I got for 120 kuai (P720). We're already planning to attend the October trade fair which will also be held in HK.


Our first day was spent getting lost in TST. We went around the area looking for the Esprit outlet store. It was all worth it because the store had so many clothes at low prices..I was in heaven! The picture above was actually from a different outlet store - Citygate mall at Tung Chung.


Our second day was spent at Ocean Park. We rode the bus stationed at Central bus terminal that goes directly to Ocean Park.

We also went to Avenue of the Stars at the base of Kowloon.

Riding the Ngong Ping 360 cable car is a very bad idea if there's a signal no. 3 brewing in the area. Thank God it wasn't raining then but the wind made our cable car one hell of a ride from Tung Chung all the way up to see the Po Lin Monastery and the Tian Tan Buddha.
